Brook, formerly Vice President, Research and Development, has been named Senior Vice President, Research and Development; Ronald A. Harris, Controller, was named to the additional position of Vice President; David Ridyard was named Vice President and Assistant to the Chairman and Axel M. Sigmar, formerly Vice President, Advanced Systems Group, was named Senior Vice President, Advanced Systems Group.

Western Atlas International Promotes Gary E. Jones to President, Western Atlas Logging Services

Western Atlas International, Inc., announced recently that Gary E. Jones has been promoted to President, Western Atlas Logging Services, and Davir S. Skerl, formerly President, Western Atlas Logging Services, will continue as Executive Vice President, Western Atlas International.

WESTERN ATLAS ACQUIRES SEISMIC COMPANIES

Western Atlas Inc. (NYSE:WAI) recently announced that it has signed letters of intent to acquire Geosignal, Inc., a seismic data processing company, and Seismic Resources, Inc. (SRI), a provider of nonexclusive seismic surveys. The two sister companies are both based in Houston.

Apache and Western Geophysical Form Technology Alliance

Apache Corporation (NYSE:APA) and Western Geophysical have entered into a technology alliance to jointly design, conduct and process seismic surveys on Apache acreage around the world, while applying Western's considerable research and development (R&D) capabilities to seismic problem-solving.

Landmark Releases Parallel-VIP™ Reservoir Simulator

Landmark Graphics Corporation is shipping Parallel-VIP™, a powerful and fast oil and gas reservoir simulator for both black oil and compositional simulations. This new release provides reservoir engineers and geoscientists with the computing horsepower and full-featured, integrated parallel simulation software to simulate large, as well as small, hydrocarbon reservoirs much more quickly and accurately.

Parallel-VIP, which runs on distributed memory parallel processors, will be demonstrated on IBM/s RS/6000SP* at the Society for petroleum Engineers' Annual Technical conference and Exhibition in San Antonio, October 6-8, 1997.

Inuvialuit Energy Inc. Announces Private Placement and Major Capital Expenditure Plan

Russell Newmark, Chairman and CEO of Inuvialuit Energy Inc. (IEI) announced the recent closing of a private equity placement to the Company's existing shareholders. IEI will utilize the proceeds to fund a $35 million capital expenditure program focused on its core areas in Alberta. The majority of the program is in winter access areas and will be completed by the spring of 1998.
