IHS Named One of the Best Workplaces in Canada

IHS Recognized as a Great Place to Work® by the Canadian Business 2007 “Best Workplaces in Canada” List.

CALGARY, ALBERTA (May 1, 2007) – IHS Inc. (NYSE: IHS), a global provider of integrated oil and gas information, software and consulting services, announced today that it is being recognized in Canadian Business magazine as one of the “Best Workplaces in Canada” for 2007. This story appeared in the April 23rd issue of Canadian Business magazine, available on newsstands and at www.canadianbusiness.com.

The list of “Best Workplaces in Canada” is compiled for Canadian Business magazine by Great Place to Work ® Institute Canada. The competition process is based on two criteria: two-thirds of the total score comes from a 57-statement survey completed by a random selection of employees, along with their open-ended comments about their organization; the remaining one-third of the score comes from an in-depth review of the organization’s culture, including an evaluation of HR policies and procedures. This offers a rigorous representation of the organization from an employee perspective, and an overall portrait of the workplace culture. Together, they provide crucial data relative to the five trust-building dimensions of a great place to work®: credibility, respect, fairness, pride, and camaraderie.

“Being on a list with the top employers in Canada is validation for all our efforts to make IHS a place where we can be proud to work,” says Chris Jones, president of the Canadian Business Unit for IHS. “We strive to focus on building a healthy organization, and together we have built a workplace that we should all be proud of.”

Recognizing that the most successful businesses have great people, IHS makes its employees a top priority, Jones said. IHS believes there are many great outcomes when companies focus on providing meaning and fulfillment to employees, so that they are completely engaged in their work. IHS devotes significant time mentoring all of its employees and encouraging a culture of achievement, intent on developing strong leaders and creating a healthy organization. IHS fosters a learning environment offering employees many opportunities to develop their careers with training, courses and conferences, and encouraging them to grow in their own roles as well as move on to different roles.

More than 20,000 employees participated in the 2007 “Best Workplaces in Canada” survey. North West Acquires Additional Leica Airborne Sensors

Calgary, Alberta, Canada - North West Geomatics Ltd. today announced that to meet increased capacity demands it has purchased the first worldwide Leica ADS40-II digital sensor with the unique SH52 sensor head and a Leica ALS50-II LiDAR sensor. To compliment these additional sensors, North West has also acquired an additional Cessna Conquest-II aircraft. Both sensors are currently in use on North West’s 2007 imagery acquisition programs and LiDAR DEM for Alberta and NE British Columbia.

In addition, Leica’s latest LiDAR technology, has allowed us to completely revolutionize the financial model of the LiDAR acquisition business. Our recently announced western Canadian LiDAR program is evidence of this by delivering high quality LiDAR derived products at pricing once reserved for other lesser technologies.”

planned 2007 programs in Canada and the United States. CGGVeritas

First Wide-Azimuth Data Library Survey

CGGVeritas (ISIN: 0000120164 – NYSE: CGV), already a market leader in proprietary wide-azimuth data acquisition, has begun field operations on the first in a series of planned wide-azimuth data library surveys in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico.

The new data library survey is currently the largest wide-azimuth project in the world, covering 464 lease blocks in the prolific Walker Ridge area of the Gulf of Mexico, where substantial reserves have been recently discovered, including the Jack discovery last year.

The SR/V Veritas Viking is recording the wide-azimuth data along with four newly rigged vessels – the Sigma, Bjorkhaug, Tenor and Vardholm – acting as source vessels. Together, they are using an acquisition configuration modified from the industry-first deepwater Gulf of Mexico survey that Veritas recorded in 2006. The modified acquisition configuration is designed primarily for regional exploration purposes, but also adaptable to reservoir delineation across a producing deepwater field. This configuration records double the cross-line offset with each sail line compared to previous wide-azimuth surveys, while maintaining optimal data quality.

“Our first non-exclusive wide-azimuth survey brings a whole new scale of data acquisition to a highly prospective area of the Gulf of Mexico,” commented Tim Wells, President, Western Hemisphere, CGGVeritas. “The survey is substantially prefunded by multiple clients and will provide our customers with increased illumination and an enhanced understanding of the complex geology of the deepwater Gulf of Mexico.”

Using proprietary software specifically designed for wide-azimuth geometry, including 3D SRME, Tomography, Beam Migration and Wave Equation Migration, processing of the wide-azimuth data will begin approximately two weeks after the first sail line has been recorded, and a Fast-Trax Migration will be ready approximately two months after completion of acquisition in early 2008.
