Welcome back Fall! I have to admit, I am definitely liking the energy levels around the oil patch these days… people seem to be working & playing hard. One group that deserves a mention for going above and beyond for their community are the 437 Nexen employees that shattered a Guinness record on September 28th for the “world’s largest gathering of people dressed as Superman” to kick off their United Way campaign “Be a Superhero!”. Google Nexen and Superman if you would like to check it out for yourselves: pretty impressive… and entertaining if you can spot a friend in the muscle suits.

CSEG Outreach: University of Saskatchewan

Attention Saskatoon and area CSEG members:

The CSEG University Outreach Committee would like to invite you to attend the University of Saskatchewan Ambassador Event. The UofS Geophysics Undergraduate Society will host the CSEG on campus, October 28, 2011. There will be a presentation beginning at 4:00pm by Lee Hunt at the UofS in GEOL 155 covering “Quantitative Interpretation and the New Geophysics”. Following this, there will be a social/networking time with the first few drinks on the CSEG at Browsers on campus starting at 5:00pm.

We would like to invite you to come and join us at this event to allow the students to network and to bring awareness of the geoscience employment opportunities that exist in Saskatoon. We ask you to consider attending to make this outreach event a success in bringing more awareness to the UofS geophysics community and to have the opportunity to enrich the experience of the students by sharing your knowledge about careers in geophysics and the CSEG. Please RSVP to Dawson Holloway at dah100@mail.usask.ca if you can attend.
