Thrust Belt Imaging (TBI), a seismic data-processing company focussed on land seismic data, has experienced solid growth in international exploration markets in the past year. After moving on from their strategic alliance with WesternGeco, they are settling into new offices at Suite 215, 605 - 11 Avenue SW, on the corner of 11 Avenue and 5 Street.

New TBI staff in the past year includes Leonardo Escobar (leonardo@tbi.ca) and Thomas Hrycan (thomas@tbi.ca). This spring, TBI had the good fortune of adding three sharp new geophysics graduates to the processing team: Dennis Ellison (dennis@tbi.ca), Usman Shahid (usman@tbi.ca), and Tim MacArthur (tim@tbi.ca). Tim and Usman will start in the time-processing team, learning the processing sequence from the field records through to prestack time migration. Dennis will be working with Rob Vestrum (rob@tbi.ca) on 2D and 3D anisotropic-depth-migration projects.

Arcis Seismic Solutions (A TGS Company) Announces New Managing Director

Arcis Seismic Solutions, a subsidiary of TGS-NOPEC Geophysical Company, wishes to announce to the industry that Katja Akentieva will be assuming the role of Managing Director, Arcis effective May 1, 2013. She will fill the role previously held by Brad Torry, who will be taking the position of Director of Geosciences, Western Hemisphere for TGS in Houston.

In his new role at TGS, Brad will be supporting Arcis’ ongoing Canadian geoscience initiatives, as well as those from the Arctic to Latin America. He plans to regularly visit Calgary to maintain client interaction and keep a finger on the pulse of local client needs.

Katja will assume Managing Director responsibilities, as well as maintain a leadership role in Arcis’ multiclient surveys group, continuing to strategically grow our Canadian data library business and advancing development and implementation of new imaging technology.
